What We Learned On Our 75th Four Mile Urban Hike

The depth and compassion we have witnessed on foot on long walks every day have amused, inspired, and informed us. Nature’s perfection. Homemade messages. Honey bees who are too busy to hate. Frugal success by a local pol. Revisiting Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered Children horror from 1979-1981. Alien botanic beings that might defeat mankind’s greed and cruelty. A long gone pizza joint. Fairies. Lost trolley rails. Unicorns. Polite poop requests.

Life has many surprises if you are willing to take the time to explore on foot.

This Virginia Highlands family has a daughter in law who left Atlanta to volunteer at a hospital in a low income area in the Bronx. Her father in law is worried, of course, but proud of the sacrifice and risk she is taking to save lives.

Nature wins.

Homemade Black Lives Matter sign names the names. This is the most moving and impactful yard sign I have seen on my many long walks for fresh air during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Go watch the five part documentary series on HBO Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children.

Homemade signs touch hearts and minds.

Bless the honey bees!

Ossoff won the Democratic primary for Georgia’s Senate race. Clearly we can respect the repurposing of his billions of unused Congressional race signs from Summer 2017.

Anybody over the age of 40 knew this pizza place in Emory Village. All that is left is the hippy-dippy stained glass over the door of a vacant retail space. No pizza was ever made at EB’s by a sober man or woman.

What is this? Can we allow it to vote? Can it eat racist, anti-science people?

We knew the trolley ran down Ponce de Leon flanked by these Linear Parks. We had no idea evidence of that trolley line still existed. Bring back the Trolley to Atlanta! Open air public transportation, please!

The power of words can move nations.

The formulation was new to me. We loved it. How about BYEDON, JR as well?

Decatur is so fun. Note city logo bottom right. Enlightened town. Who does not know four fairies living in Decatur, GA? If you don’t know any, ask us. We will introduce you. Note the Unicorn. She lives there, too. So does Frodo. Decatur is Haven.

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. God save us from the 13th Century.
