Georgia Bar Rule 6.1: A lawyer should aspire to render at least (50) hours of pro bono publico legal services per year.
When the State Bar of Georgia approached Good Thinking for help, more than 35,000 pending cases needed pro bono lawyers. The “Due Justice. Do Fifty” campaign was designed to drive up participation in the State Bar’s pro bono volunteer program, encouraging the State Bar’s membership to meet the aspirational goal of performing at least 50 hours a year to pro bono legal work.
THE CHALLENGE
Under the leadership of Pro Bono Director Michael Monahan and United States Magistrate Judge Catherine Salinas, the State Bar of Georgia Pro Bono Resource Center needed a promotional campaign to increase pro bono participation among its 40,000+ active and inactive bar members.
THE OUTCOME
The campaign has been seen widely via social media and regularly appears in the State Bar’s monthly newsletter. On-going promotion of the campaign continues to bring new volunteers to serve pro bono needs throughout the state.
